Important Note for UGA Employees
UGA employees CANNOT pay registration fees with a UGA pcard. Use of a UGA pcard for this purpose is a violation of pcard procedures.
UGA employees should print out the event registration form, fill it out and fax it to us along with the account name and number you wish to charge. We will then process an Intra-UGA payment. Alternately, UGA employees may use a personal credit card to pay for event registration.

OPTIONAL PRE-CONFERENCE TOUR:
Ladybug Farms is a Community Supported Agriculture farm run by Terri Jagger Blincoe. The tour will include a walk through the fields and greenhouse, where we will learn about the 6000 gallon rainwater irrigation system, and the various methods used to manage pathogens and other pests on the farm. More information about Ladybug Farms can be found at http://www.ladybugfarms.net/. The tour will depart from the Dillard House at 9:00 am and return by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 13.
- Tour Registration fee is $10.00 per person.
- Pre-registration is required prior to March 1 so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
LODGING:
You must contact The Dillard House directly at 800-541-0671 to make your lodging reservations. You must mention you are with the GAPP Conference to receive the reduced lodging rates. The cutoff date to make reservations is March 1, 2012. After March 1, the conference rate will not be honored and you are not guaranteed a lodging room.
The following room types have been blocked for conference participants to have available for reservations at the reduced rates listed:
- Twenty (20) Luxury double queen rooms in the Valley View and Highlands buildings at a weekday rate of $89.00 (plus 7% sales tax and 5% motel tax) for a total of $99.68 per room per night.
- Six (6) Luxury double queen rooms in the Rabun Bald building at a weekday rate of $89.00 (plus 7% sales tax and 5% motel tax) for a total of $99.68 per room per night.
- Fourteen (14) Standard Deluxe double queen rooms in the Meadows and Blue Ridge buildings at a weekday rate of $79.00 (plus 7% sales tax and 5% motel tax) for a total of $88.48 per room per night for one(1) night.
2012 Flavor of Georgia
The Flavor of Georgia food product contest is an annual celebration of all the flavors Georgia has to offer. Market-ready prototypes or commercially available food products from across the state are judged and critiqued by a panel of food experts.
Entries are judged based on flavor, best use of Georgian ingredients, Georgia theme, unique or innovative qualities, commercial appeal and originality.
Final judging will be held March 12-13, 2012, at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta during the Governor's annual ag awareness week.
Product entry will open November 1, 2011, for the 2012 contest. Entries must be received by February 10, 2012.

2012 Southeast Hay Convention
The 2012 Southeast Hay Convention will be valuable to serious hay producers who seek to learn more about modern hay-making techniques. This program is dedicated to those who are serious about commercial hay production and those who would like a thorough, "A to Z coverage" of the subject. ACCOMMODATIONS:
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn in Tifton (just off I-75 exit 62). The nightly rate is $70. But, you should hurry. This block of rooms will likely fill quickly. To reserve a room in this block, you will have to call the Comfort Inn at (229) 382-8250 and mention the reserved block under "Southeast Hay Convention." (You cannot get the special rate via the internet.)
There are a number of other hotels in Tifton. Prices for these hotels generally are $80-110+ per night. Here is a link that will help you find a hotel near the site of the convention. There are a number of nice restaurants near all of these hotels.

2012 Hydric Soils Workshops in Raleigh, NC
The Hydric Soils Short Course is designed as a two-part program for Wetland Professionals. Participants will get an in-depth look at basic processes, learn how to solve advanced evaluation problems and get extensive field experience during four full days of intensive training on state of the art technologies.
Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all workshops, but may choose to attend only one if preferred. Both the Basic and Advanced workshops will include classroom discussion, fieldwork and homework. You will spend half of the total training time in the field gaining practical, hands-on experience in soil description and identification of hydric soil indicators.
REGISTRATION:
The registration fee includes lunch and break service, course materials, and a certificate of attendance. Lodging is NOT included in the registration fee. Class size is limited. The full registration fee must accompany the registration form in order to reserve a place in the course. Cancellations will be refunded (minus a $50 processing fee) if written notification (fax acceptable) is received 5 days prior to the start date of the workshop. Notifications made less than 5 days prior to the start date of the workshop will not be refunded.
